One Cutlery Order, Several Variants: Ask for MOQ by Configuration

A buyer may ask for one total quantity while planning several cutlery finishes, logos or retail packs. The answer to “what is the MOQ?” may change with the configuration. Do not assume that quantities across different variants can be combined to meet one threshold. Send a variant matrix and ask the supplier which lines, if any, can share a minimum. This article supplies a question format, not a numerical Yumingxing MOQ.

Yumingxing’s RFQ guide asks buyers to separate quantities by piece, colour and packaging configuration and to confirm MOQ for existing models, logo application and new tooling separately. The current buying process calls for feasibility, quotation and MOQ confirmation before bulk approval. These sources support asking by route and variant; they do not publish one threshold that applies to every order.

Put each sellable variant on its own row

Variant field Buyer input Supplier response to request
Model and component set Model/reference and exact knife, fork and spoon composition Is this an available configuration?
Finish and material Finish and material by component Does this choice change the minimum or sample route?
Logo No logo or controlled artwork version and placement Is branding quoted and counted separately?
Pack Loose piece, sellable set or branded retail pack, with count per unit Is there a separate packaging minimum?
Quantity Requested sellable units for this row, plus any forecast clearly labelled as a forecast What minimum applies to this row, and may any rows combine?
Approval route Existing model, private-label change or proposed new tooling Which feasibility and approval steps are needed?

For example, a plain set and the same set in a branded box should appear as two rows, even if the metal pieces are identical. Ask whether the metal order and printed packaging have different minimums, who supplies the packaging and what happens if one row is below its threshold. Do not merge the quantities in a purchase order until the supplier confirms the permissible combination in writing.

The customization-route decision sheet helps classify each row; the pieces, sets and cartons check prevents quantity-unit confusion. Attach the matrix to an enquiry with a target date and destination. Record the returned minimum, its unit, scope, validity and any separate setup or pack charge beside each row. An unanswered cell remains an open commercial question, not a zero minimum.

Sources and limits

No specific minimum quantity, price, capacity or combining permission is claimed for any model. Confirm those in the actual quotation.
